I’m a former Marine that lives by the Marine Corps core values: HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT. Those three very important core values have helped me succeed both in life and in the field of athletics. Currently I’m the owner/manager of South Florida CrossFit Endurance. I have been training athletes since 2001 and have had the honor of training elite athletes but nothing makes me happier then training the “average joe/jane” and seeing them go from the back of the pack athlete to the front of the pack elite athlete.
I currently hold the following certifications: CrossFit Level I instructor, CrossFit Endurance Certifcation , POSE Running Level I and Level II certified instructor, USAW Level I Sports Performance Certification, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting certification and CrossFit Gymnastics certification. I have also attended the coaches prep course for the CrossFit Level II.

My passion for health and fitness was uncovered at the early age of 13 when I started playing football and competing in Duathlons. To train for these two completely different disciplines, I decided to take up CrossFit. Throughout my early teens, I excelled on the athletic field, finishing in the top three of my age group in every duathlon I entered. In High School, I lettered in three sports; track & field, wrestling and football. Through my disciplined nature, hard work, and undying dedication, I have built a name for myself on and off the athletic field. My certifications include: Level 1 CrossFit instructor, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting, CrossFit Kids and I’m currently enrolled in FAU’s Sport Medicine program.
As a competitive Triathlete/Duathlete, I initially turned to CrossFit to improve my strength and become a
more powerful competitor. CrossFit has given me the edge in competition I was looking for and so much more.
I have been finishing consistently at the top of my age group and recently qualified for the ITU Duathlon
World Championships to represent Team USA. I am a certified Level 1 CrossFit instructor and a triathlon coach.
CrossFit has enabled me to compete at a higher level but is has also changed the way I view fitness,
health, and training altogether. I am not just training for endurance events any more, I am training
for the single most important challenge that unites us all: life. The diversity and intensity of CrossFit
training has given me the confidence I need to take on the endless variety of challenges that life throws
my way. I have realized that the obstacles I face in life and in training are not road-blocks, they are
opportunities for growth and success.
As an athlete, CrossFit has helped me exceed my own performance expectations. As a Coach, I promise to
help you exceed yours. As a member of SFCF you are part of a constantly growing, supportive community of
athletes. Here you will find a perfect balance of camaraderie and competition that that will challenge and
encourage you to be your best inside and outside the gym.
Throughout my life I have always been involved in sports and living a healthy lifestyle. I have played football in high school and was given the opportunity to play baseball in the minor leagues for the Atlanta Braves. Within a few years I settled into my career as a firefighter. This job allowed me to continue working out and playing department sports. All my workouts centered around the gym and I had an old school mentality of bigger and stronger is better. I became narrow minded in my workouts and was the typical meat head in the gym. Unfortunately last year I tore my ACL and had to undergo surgery. This injury made me re-evaluate my athletic ability and I began to struggle with my workouts. My knee was continuously in pain and I was no longer able to achieve the strength I had previously . Soon afterwards I was introduced to crossfit. By applying strength training and cardio training in a fun and challenging way I regained my athleticism. This experience has allowed me to be competitive and motivated. I am now in the best overall shape of my life and have made great friends while doing it, thanks to Fernando and his CrossFit team.
Whether playing basketball, league football, club ice hockey, travel league roller hockey, road cycling, mountain biking or snowboarding. Fitness has always been part of who I am ever since I was a child. After years and years of “traditional” methods of training, I was suffering from intense back pain. I found myself doing less and less of the things I enjoyed. After eight months of rehabilitation for herniated discs I began exploring new activities. I believed I could never be “strong” again. I could never move or lift heavy loads because my back just would not be able to handle it. I began competing in local triathlons and after a year of training and competing I was referred to South Florida CrossFit by a very close friend. I was skeptical to say the least. How was I going to be able to perform Olympic lifts and do the basic and fundamental movements that are at the heart of CrossFit? With proper technique and unparalleled instruction from the SFCF coaching staff I not only lifted and began doing the things I thought I would never do again, I became stronger, faster and physically better then I have ever been. I quickly immersed myself in CrossFit. I became a certified Level 1 CrossFit instructor and bring my own experiences as well as my dedication to proper, safe, efficient technique to all of our athletes. Never sacrificing technique for intensity and being part of a coaching family that truly cares has been more rewarding then I could have ever imagined. I am now part of an incredible community and invite anyone, at any fitness level, interested in becoming the healthiest person they can be to join us at South Florida CrossFit.
